Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has responded to the European Parliament resolution on the arrest of Ilgar Mamedov. The discussion in the European Parliament and the adoption of the resolution in the case of Ilgar Mamedov, is regrettable, reads the statement of the Foreign Minister.
Foreign Ministry considers this step does not promote to the development of bilateral relations andnotes that Azerbaijan is committed to democracy, human rights and freedoms.
"Unfortunately, a group of MEPs differrnig biased position often discuss various issues related to Azerbaijan and voiced thoughts that do not reflect reality, " reads the statement.
This is not the first time of the biased attitude to Azerbaijan on the part of European Parliament ," said the Minister.
The European Parliament turned a blind eye on the processes taking place in Europe itself, and the military-political processes in the South Caucasus.
The tone of the document also does not correspond to the spirit of bilateral relations and unacceptable for Azerbaijan as a sovereign subject of international law.
"But it's time to take into account that Azerbaijan is an independent state and is conducting an independent internal and foreign policy.
