Foreign Ministry commented on threats of Armenians to Azerbaijani and Turkish diplomats
Baku / 19.10.20 / Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry commented on threats to Azerbaijani and Turkish diplomats working abroad that have been heard in social networks in recent days.
"This is yet another manifestation of the terrorist character of the radical Armenian forces," said Leyla Abdullayeva, an official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Armenia supports terrorism at the state level, she said. “Everyone knows that ASALA and other Armenian terrorist organizations carried out more than 235 terrorist attacks in 22 countries of the world in the 1970-1980s. Among their victims are 24 Turkish diplomats.
In the early 1990s, during the occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and seven adjacent regions, Armenia also widely used terror,” Abdullayeva said.
She also pointed to the recent “aggressive actions and hate crimes committed by radical Armenian forces in foreign countries against members of local Azerbaijani communities, as well as Azerbaijani diplomats, and in July this year during a provocation by the Armenian Armed Forces on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
“We strongly condemn the spread by the Armenian radical elements of full threats of messages addressed to the Azerbaijani and Turkish diplomats and calls to kill them,” Abdullayeva stressed.
She recalled that according to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the host country of a diplomat is responsible for preventing any attacks against him, his freedom and dignity.
“We will send appropriate appeals to strengthen the protection and security of our diplomats abroad,” said Abdullayeva. — 06B-
