France does not recognize the "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic"
Baku / 28.10.18 / Turan: France does not recognize the "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" and, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, will continue its mediation efforts to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is stated in a statement by the French Ambassador to Azerbaijan, received by Turan.
The French Ambassador expresses her sincere feelings to the victims of the conflict and members of their families, as well as to many displaced people, the statement said.
As for the visits of the mayors of French cities to Nagorno-Karabakh, the Ambassador notes that "the position of France is clear and unequivocal" and the Foreign Ministry of this country reminded it again on October 26:
"France does not recognize the "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" and the government is not responsible for agreements signed by local authorities that have no legal force. France, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, will continue honest mediation efforts to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the statement concludes.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan expressed a protest to the French side in connection with a trip of the mayor of Saint-Etienne to the occupied regions. -06D-
