Freedom of expression in Azerbaijan is restricted, IHRA
Baku / 06.03.18 / Turan: In 2017 restriction of freedom of expression in Azerbaijan remained a serious problem. At least 19 people associated with this area were imprisoned, stated the report "The state of media in Azerbaijan: arrests and pressures" of the International Human Rights Protection Association (IHRA).
In particular, they are journalists: Afgan Mukhtarly, Mehman Aliyev (released), Mahbub Zulfugarli (released), Seymour Hazi, Aziz Orudzhev, Faig Amirli (released), Nijat Aliyev, Araz Guliyev, Fikret Ibishbeyli, Afghan Sadygov, Elchin Ismayilli and Javid Shiraliyev .
In addition, bloggers remain in prisons: Mehman Huseynov, Rashad Ramazanov and Ilkin Rustamzade, writers: Sadai Shekerli and Tofig Hasanov, graffiti activists: Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov.
7 sites of independent mass media were blocked on the territory of Azerbaijan.
IHRPA was established in 2013 by a group of Azerbaijani NGOs in Belgium.-06D-
