Baku/15.04.21/Turan: April 12 at the Committee of the Parliament of Georgia on Defense and Security discussions were held on the topic “The impact of the peace agreement on Nagorno Karabakh on the atmosphere of security in the South Caucasus.”

From the report of the press service of the legislature, it is known that the members of the committee heard Acting Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Shalva Lomidze.

The chair of the committee, Irakli Beraya, said that because of the ceasefire agreement reached on November 10, 2020, Russia's military presence in the South Caucasus has increased.

The speaker provided information on the solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and detailed information about the results of the agreement. Director of the Analytical Department of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Givi Tumanishvili, said that they discussed the problems that Georgia may face in connection with the current situation in the region.

These are common and expected phrases. Since the meeting was held behind closed doors, without journalists, the details are unknown. The benefit or danger for Georgia from the resolution of the Karabakh conflict in its present form is unclear.

Turan asked journalists and political scientists well known in Georgia and Azerbaijan.

According to Tengiz Ablotiya, the Karabakh issue in Georgia “is in the backyard of attention. Everyone thinks that everything is over there and there is nothing more to talk about. "He does not know what the Georgian parliament cares about the events in Karabakh, and what they discussed there.

Gela Gvasadze is not sure if there was anything interesting going on in parliament. He expressed his opinion on the events in the Caucasus: “The solution of our, as well as yours, territorial issues is hardly possible without a systemic crisis in the Russian Federation. While we are talking about security in the region, the Tskhinvalization of Karabakh by Russia created the preconditions for a new war in the future and practically closed the options for a peaceful settlement. As long as the Russian Federation remains the same as it is now, neither you nor we will restore our territorial integrity, but the threat of war is higher for you than for us,” wrote Tengiz Ablotiya in a letter.

The blogger of the "Caucasian Knot" "Berg ... mann" sent a detailed layout of the possible relations of Georgian deputies to Azerbaijan.

“Officially, Azerbaijan is the most important strategic partner of Georgia. Armenia is

friendly neighboring state. Georgia demonstratively adheres to neutrality, including in the recent conflict over Karabakh. At the same time, Georgia supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, from all tribunes. Of course, when considering the situation, the fact that the main ally of Armenia is Russia, which Georgia officially considers an occupier and the aggressor. Azerbaijan's main ally is Turkey, a NATO member and one of the most important allies of Georgia and trade partners.

I think that parliament will almost certainly talk about the prevention of numerous

provocations, both external and internal. It is about Saakashvili's supporters, who seek to provoke Georgian-Azerbaijani relations with stuffing about, allegedly, the sympathy of official Tbilisi towards Armenia. Provocations around monastery "David Gareji" and in areas where Azerbaijanis live compactly and where Saakashvili's activists often go. This has already been done many times. The State Security Service of Georgia made numerous statements about it.

At the same time, the opposition media always dump the tension on external forces - Armenians and Russians, and allegedly pro-Russian forces in Georgia, which in fact not.

As for Russia and Armenia, their factor is understandable and is not disputed by anyone, but they are unlikely to provoke a situation in the Georgian-Azerbaijani and in the Georgian-Armenian relations in the same way as internal forces.

But if you carefully observe the situation, then the greatest provocations towards Azerbaijan come not so much even from the Georgian Orthodox Church, and not from the Alliance of Patriots (although, of course, they provoke), but from Saakashvili's supporters and allies - the chief Laborist Shalva Natelashvili, who more than once spoke insultingly about I. Aliyev. I repeat, provocateurs immediately blame all this on the ruling party and pro-Russian forces in Georgia.

In the Georgian political struggle, it is customary to accuse any opponents of a pro-Russian position, and everyone is doing this. The opposition blames the authorities for this. Power is opposition.

I think the parliament also talked about preventing the aggravation of interethnic conflicts, I mean the relationship between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Georgia. In all border regions of Georgia, where Armenians and Azerbaijanis live, the Georgian blogger replied.-0-
