On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov held a meeting in connection with the declaration of 2017 a Year of Islamic Solidarity.
As stated in the official report, Ahmadov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the solidarity of the Islamic world.
According to him, Ilham Aliyev offers Muslim countries to unite not only about religion, but also "speak with one voice" in political matters.
According to him, Islamic solidarity is a powerful factor for solving the problems of the Islamic countries.
During the meeting it was noted that within the framework of Year of Islamic Solidarity scientific conferences, round tables, seminars, competitions, exhibitions, publishes books, stamps and so on will be arranged in Azerbaijan. These measures will be widely covered in the local media and abroad.
An integral part of the activities will be the IV Islamic Solidarity Games that will be held in Baku this year. -02D-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
