Great Britain for enhancing media freedom in the world - Ambassador
Baku/05.10.19/Turan: Great Britain stands for strengthening free media in the world, for independent media play an important role in protecting human rights, stated the British Ambassador James Sharp, at the event dedicated to the results of the journalistic competition on the topic of freedom of expression.
In turn, the chief executive officer of the Press Association agency Clive Marshall, noting the importance of the contest for English-speaking journalists, spoke about the problems of free media.
"This competition showed how journalists in Azerbaijan can cope with difficult tasks," he said. The winner of the contest, Fatma Babayeva, received the right to a one-week internship in London.
During his visit to Azerbaijan, the director of the Press Association agency met with representatives of independent and pro-government media and delivered a lecture at ADA University on the Importance of Pluralism in Civil Society. -16D-
