Greece is interested in investing in Azerbaijan
President Ilham Aliyev has received today in Baku Greek Foreign Minister, Dimitris Avramopoulos. According to the President’s web-site, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations, cooperation with Greece within the framework of NATO and the EU.
These same topics were discussed today by the two foreign ministers. At a joint press conference, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said that in recent years the trade turnover between the two countries has increased fourfold, reaching $ 1 billion.
The sides noted the prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism. Greek Minister, expressed the interest of Athens in the election of Azerbaijan Project TAP (Transadriatic pipeline Greece-Albania-Italy) to transport its gas to Europe.
He also stressed that Greece is always open to foreign investment, and called on the Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to invest in this country.
According to the Greek minister, direct flights between Baku and Athens will open in May.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, Avramopulos stressed that Greece supports the peaceful settlement of the problem based on international norms.—06D--
