Gubad Ibadoglu is not given results of medical examinations at Central Clinical Hospital
Baku/23.10.23/Turan: The results of mgnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) examinations are not given to arrested oppositionist Gubad Ibadoglu and his relatives. This was reported to Turan by his brother Galib Bayramov.
According to him, the examinations were conducted back on 13 October at the Central Clinical Hospital. "Since that day, we have been unable to get the results of these studies from the Chief Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Justice," Bayramov said.
He noted that his brother's spinal problems have further aggravated.
"How serious the aggravation is it will be possible to say after viewing the disc with the MRI results. However, we are not given the disc. At the same time, the head of the medical unit of the Baku pre-trial detention centre, Rashad Huseynli, tells us that Gubad has 'osteochondrosis'," the politician's brother continued.
He also said Ibadoglu's diabetes has worsened. "Despite the fact that the endocrinologist at the Ministry of Justice's medical department has prescribed insulin, there is no improvement. The blood sugar level on a 'full stomach in a better case is not less than 300. This has been going on for a long time, which can have a negative impact on eyesight and kidneys," Bayramov said.
Despite the appointment of an endocrinologist from the Ministry of Justice's medical department to examine his eyes and kidneys, this has not yet been done.
"We also don't know the condition of my brother's heart, and the penitentiary service does not allow a doctor from the Red Cross office to see Gubad," Bayramov said.
It was not possible to get comments from the penitentiary service and the main medical department of the Ministry of Justice.
*On 24 July the Narimanov district court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said Ibadoglu is linked to supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey.
On 25 August, he was charged with another charge - "production, storage or distribution of religious extremist materials".
Gubad Ibadoglu rejects the charges, considering them absurd. Many international organisations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician. The European Parliament has called for sanctions against Azerbaijani officials because of Ibadoglu's persecution. -21B06-

Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a key energy partner for Europe amidst growing challenges in the natural gas market following the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. The disruption, marking the end of a decade-long transit route, is expected to heighten competition in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market and drive up prices for alternative energy sources.
