A high-level U.S. delegation which included the State Department's number two, met Monday in Kyiv with President Zelenskyy, to "reaffirm the United States’ strong and steadfast commitment to Ukraine and its defense against Russia’s unprovoked aggression," as the Department put it, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, White House's Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer, and Under Secretary of Defense Dr. Colin Kahl also met with PM Shmyhal, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov and others to discuss diplomatic efforts and security assistance to strengthen Ukraine’s security capabilities. Leaders also discussed efforts to repair Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the State Department said in a readout.
"Prior to the visit, the delegation made stops in Germany and Poland to review U.S. security assistance to Ukraine," it added.
"As part of the trip, the delegation heard from young Ukrainians who have adapted their businesses and advocacy to support their fellow citizens even as they look ahead to Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction," State Department said.
