Hikmet Hajiyev on the upcoming meeting in Yevlakh
Baku/20.09.23/Turan: Today's agreements helped overcome the main obstacles to achieving sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stated the representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special assignments, Ambassador Elchin Amirbekov, at a briefing for the diplomatic corps accredited in Baku. Azerbaijan's repeated calls to eliminate the illegal military presence on its territory remained unheard, so "we had to solve these issues on our own," Amirbekov said.
In turn, Presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev said that issues of disarmament of Armenian forces in Karabakh will be discussed at the meeting in Yevlakh on September 21. "We have received guarantees that the Armenian military forces in Karabakh will be disarmed, they will leave their combat posts, and all military equipment and weapons will be transferred to Azerbaijan. This will happen in coordination with the Russian peacekeepers," he said.
Hajiyev noted that at this stage the main issue is the reintegration of the Armenian population of Karabakh. It is expected that these issues will be discussed in detail at tomorrow's meeting, he said and noted that the socio-economic integration of the Armenian residents of Karabakh is an internal matter of Azerbaijan. According to him, the plan of socio-economic integration of the Armenian population of Karabakh is already ready. He stressed that Azerbaijan is ready for the process of normalization and peace with Armenia, but Yerevan should abandon confrontation.
"The Armenian government recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, but its diplomatic steps indicate the opposite." Armenia puts forward unnecessary and obstructive initiatives for peace. "We hope for the active normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the future," Hajiyev stressed. ---06B---
