Huseyn Melik was arrested for 30 days
Baku/10.10.23/Turan: Member of the board of the Azerbaijan Party of Democracy and Welfare Huseyn Melik was administratively arrested. As Turan was told in the party, he was detained on the afternoon of October 10 and taken to the 41st police station.
“The reason for the detention was allegedly a certain comment written by Melik under a post by Tofig Yagublu (member of the National Council of Democratic Forces). Later, a protocol was drawn up against Melik on violation of articles 510 (petty hooliganism) and 535.1 (failure to obey the police) of the Code of Administrative Offenses and by decision of the Sabail District Court of Baku he was arrested for 30 days,” the party said.
At the same time, the party noted that Melik has serious health problems, suffers from diabetes, and underwent heart surgery.
Party considered Melik's arrest to be politically motivated.
It was not possible to obtain comments from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Huseyn Melik has previously been subject to administrative arrests. It should be noted that the head of the Azerbaijan Party of Democracy and Welfare, Gubad Ibadoglu, is also under arrest on criminal charges.
Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. International organizations have called for Ibadoglu's release.-06B-
