Igor Strelkov (Girkin) detained in Moscow
Baku/21.07.23/Turan: On Friday, July 21, law enforcement officers detained the former defense minister of the self-proclaimed “DNR” Donetsk People's Republic Igor Strelkov (Girkin). This is reported by RBC with reference to sources and Strelkov's lawyer Alexander Molokhov. Law enforcement officers took Strelkov out of the house around noon. The Investigative Committee officers are conducting a search in his apartment.
According to preliminary data, the detention was carried out at the request of a former employee of the private security company "Wagner". A message from his wife Miroslava Reginskaya appeared in Strelkov's Telegram. She said that she was absent from home when representatives of the Investigative Committee arrived there.
"I managed to find out from friends that my husband was charged under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extremism)," the message says. Igor Strelkov (Girkin) harshly criticized the leadership of the Russian army for not being able, as he believes, to conduct military operations in Ukraine. Recently, he has also begun to criticize the political leadership of Russia. ---06D---
