Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a message to Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei on the occasion of the death of former President Hashemi Rafsanjani. "I am extremely saddened by the news on the death of prominent state and political figure, Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani," said the telegram.
Rafsanjani made a great contribution to the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The bright memory of him will live forever.
