Ilham Aliyev received Saudi Energy Minister
Baku/13.01.22/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud.
Today, Aliyev and the Prince attended the ceremony of laying the foundation of wind farm "Khyzy-Absheron" with a capacity of 240 MW.
It should be added that the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan signed an executive contract with Saudi Arabia's company ACWA Power for construction of wind farm with installed capacity of 240 MW in Baku on January 9, 2020.
The project will include installation of 40 turbines with capacity of 6 MW each in Apsheron and Khyzy regions. The cost of the project is $300 million to be invested by ACWA Power.
The construction of the plant is expected to take two years.
The annual capacity of the power station will be 1 bln kWh of electricity. At the same time, due the use of wind energy it will be possible to save up to 220 mln. cubic meters of gas-06D-

The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the deaths of two people during the recent floods in Baku, Baku Mayor Eldar Azizov said commenting on the consequences of the flooding of tunnels in the capital during the heavy rains on October 22 to journalists. According to him, the sewer system could not handle the large volume of floodwater, which led to the drowning of two people in a tunnel in the Sabunchu district of Baku. The floods revealed vulnerabilities in Baku's water infrastructure.
