Ilham Aliyev�s appeal to the Azerbaijanis of the world
Baku / 25.12.17 / Turan: The president Ilham Aliyev called on the Azerbaijanis of the whole world to strengthen ties with their homeland and show solidarity for achieving national goals, reads the appeal of Aliyev to all Azerbaijanis on the eve of December 31 - Day of solidarity of all Azerbaijanis. He notes that strengthening ties with compatriots is one of the important activities of the government of the country.
As achievements of the past year, he refers to the extension of the term of the contract for the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field until 2050, the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the start of work on the functioning of the North-South transport corridor.
All these projects contribute to the welfare of the country's citizens, and at the same time the geostrategic importance of Azerbaijan is growing, noted in the appeal.
Aliyev called on the diaspora organizations to step up their opposition to anti-Azerbaijani propaganda, to stop provocations against Azerbaijan abroad, by uniting around the idea of Azerbaijanism.
To achieve a just solution to the Karabakh conflict, the strong will of the Azerbaijanis of the whole world is also important, noted in the appeal.
December 31 is celebrated as a day of solidarity of Azerbaijanis after in 1989 activists of the national movement demolished the state border between Azerbaijan and Iran. However, the country is celebratioing the day at the state level on December 31 since 1992.-05D-
