In-patient Arif Yunus called for questioning

The lawyer Khalid Bagirov sent a petition to the Attorney General in connection with the call for questioning of his client, Arif Yunus.

The lawyer believes that A. Yunus  cannot give evidence or be cross-examined for health, as he is in hospital.

The condition of A. Yunus does not allow him to testify for a long period.

Therefore, in the case of deterioration during the interrogation he can need emergency assistance.

The lawyer also pointed out that in any case the interrogation may last no longer than two hours.

The lawyer also requested regarding the seizure of passports from Arif and Leila Yunus when departing from Baku on April 28. The lawyer considers it illegal decision because there was no official ban on their departure from the country. He demands the return of the passports to their owners.

The lawyer also sent Unibank a petition of misconduct of the institution that refused to give Arif Yunus hioos money – 8,749 euros - without a court order.

The lawyer warned that if this lawlessness continues, he will file a lawsuit against the bank.

"The violation of our rights is committed by the prosecutors, the police and even the bank," in turn declared the Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy Leila Yunus.

Recall that Leila Yunus was detained at the airport the evening of April 28 and searched without a lawyer.

Due to pressure from the law enforcement A. Yunus was hospitalized with a diagnosis of hypertensive crisis. L. Yunus was interrogated by the prosecutors for 9 hours, after which searches were conducted in their office and apartment.
