Investigation of criminal case against disabled person Famil Khalilov is over
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case against the detained public activist, disabled person of the 1st group Famil Khalilov has been completed. Today, July 26, the investigator will come to the pre-trial detention facility and report on the end of the preliminary investigation, while the defence will begin to get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case. This was reported by lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev.
The lawyer noted that the defense motion to replace the measure of restraint against Famil Khalilov to house arrest was not satisfied.
‘Famil Khalilov is paralyzed. It is very difficult for him to be in prison, as his hands do not function and he cannot freely take food and water, cannot wash himself.
Only cellmates help him. When moving, they tie his hands with a towel to keep his balance,’ said the lawyer.
Recall that Khalilov was detained on 2 May and charged under Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (manufacture, transportation, storage of drugs in large quantities for sale). The court arrested him for four months during the investigation. This article provides for imprisonment for 5 to 12 years.
His relatives claim that he is innocent and punished for his posts on social networks.
On 6 May, Famil Khalilov was placed in the medical and sanitary department of Baku detention facility No. 1 due to deterioration of his condition.
