Iranian citizen convicted in Azerbaijan for espionage
Baku/10.10.23/Turan: The verdict of a citizen of Iran, Astana Babak Soleiman, was read out in the Baku Court for Serious Crimes on October 10.
The court sentenced the Iranian to 12 years of imprisonment, finding him guilty under Article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Turan was informed about this in court. 48-year-old Soleiman was detained in May this year in Nakhchivan. He is an ethnic Azerbaijani, a native of Tabriz, a doctor by profession.
According to the investigation, he is an employee of the intelligence unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (Sepah). -06B-
