Isa Gambar and Arif Hajili questioned the prosecutor’s office
Former and current leaders of "Musavat" party, Isa Gambar and Arif Hajili today were questioned in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan. The reason for their summon is a kind of a criminal investigation into the issuance of false documents about the "Musavat" membership used to obtain political refugee status abroad. Hajili assessed the criminal case, as the pressure on the "Musavat". "In fact, summon to the prosecutor is message of the society, the pressure on the opposition. Authorities are concerned with creation of European coordination center "Musavat", actions demanding the release of political prisoners. By summoning us, the investigation is hopeful to influence the European Coordination Centre "Musavat"," said Hajili. According to him, in the criminal case are the names of the leaders and activists of the center.
In turn, Gambar said there are really facts issuing false documents to travel abroad. "We are interested in exposing the network. If prosecutors do it, it will be very good. However, instead, we feel the desire to put pressure on the party "Musavat". Apparently, the authorities are concerned about the intensification of party members in Azerbaijan and Musavat in Europe," said Gambar. On Saturday in the same case was questioned the head of "Musavat" apparatus Gulaga Aslanli. He noted that the allegations of issuing false documents were made even in 2015. Then Aslanli himself initiated legal proceedings against those who spread false information, and the court urged the defendant to refute it, and apologize.-03B-
