Baku/06.07.21/Turan: Georg Sujyan accused of espionage in Azerbaijan is a blogger according to Armenian media.
In November 2020, he and his friend filmed a video in Istisu (Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan) and shared the footage on Facebook. In this video, he used street swearing at the Azerbaijanis. Over 6,000 users have shared this video from his page.
Some time later, on November 11, the Armenian media reported on the disappearance of Sujyan along with his friend David Davtyan. It was reported that they have not been in touch for 4 days.
It is alleged that Sujyan is a citizen of Armenia and the head of the New Motherland Armenia diaspora organization. Armenia claims that they arrived in Azerbaijan for "humanitarian purposes" and are prisoners.
According to the Office of the Ombudsman of Armenia, they were detained after the end of hostilities on the Lachin-Shusha road.
In Azerbaijan, these persons were charged under the Article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code. The case materials were transferred to the Baku Grave Crimes Court. The preparatory meeting will be chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov on July 14. -02D-
