Jamil Gasanli - Honorary Member of the Turkish Historical Society
On 30th October, at a meeting of the Turkish Historical Society in Istanbul, the former presidential candidate of the National Council of Azerbaijan, Jamil Gasanli, was elected as an honorary member and awarded a diploma.
At the ceremony a speech was made by the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc.
According to the Regulations of the structure, a person elected as an honorary member is clothed in robes of the XVI century, similar to the mantle, which Sultan Selim wore. Among the honorary members of this structure are the Turkish Professor Ilber Artaily, Professor of Louisville University (USA) Justin McCarthy, the British professor Feruz Ahmed and others.
The Turkish Historical Society was founded by Ataturk in 1931. This organization is well known in the world.
Jamil Gasanli joined the ceremony with a lecture on the 90th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
During his visit to Turkey, Gasanli also held a meeting with Azerbaijani students studying in the country. -05D04-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
