Jeyhun Bayramov: Azerbaijan and the USA are "reliable partners"
Baku/28.12.23/Turan: Azerbaijan is interested in developing relations with the United States, both sides are "reliable" partners of each other, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov said at a press conference today. According to him, after the tension that arose in bilateral relations in October, the first positive messages have now been received to return them to their former course. Answering a question about the "tension" in bilateral relations between the United States and Azerbaijan, Bayramov said that "I would not call relations tense at this stage."
"I think it would be possible to use a different, softer terminology," the minister said. He noted that in October relations could be called "tense" and the reason for this was the accusations made in the US Congress against Azerbaijan in connection with the anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh.
After Azerbaijan gave an "adequate reaction", after which there were "positive changes" (in the position of the United States). "A telephone conversation took place between Secretary of State Blinken and the President of Azerbaijan. O'Brien (Assistant Secretary of State), visited Azerbaijan and made statements against our country in Congress, and then we noted positive messages from him," Bayramov said. He called the United States and Azerbaijan "reliable partners."
"Together we have implemented numerous projects in the field of energy security, transport, and the fight against global crime and terrorism. We are interested in developing these relations. The USA for Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan for the USA are reliable partners. The first positive messages have already been given, and in order for them to become consistent and relations to return to their previous course, we hope that next year, first of all, steps will be taken by the United States," Bayramov said. -06B-
