Journalist organizations condemn the arrest of rapper
Media Rights Institute (MRI) has condemned the arrest of rapper, Sayid Aliyev, nickname Dado.
The musician was arrested on 27 February in an administrative order for 10 days on charges of disobeying police. However, according to relatives, the police demanded that he remove the critical clip on Internet of the traffic police and threatened by the new criminal charge, if he does not remove the clip.
MRI regarded the harassment of a rapper as a violation of freedom of expression and creativity. According to the Article 51 of the Constitution, the right to free creativity is guaranteed. MRI called on the authorities to provide the public with accurate information about the arrest of the rapper, and provide an objective investigation.
Human Rights Campaign Art for Democracy has also condemned the arrest of the rapper, describing it as a flagrant interference in the freedom of creativity and expression.—16D06-
