Karabakh is lost, Armenia must be preserved – Suren Surenyants
Baku/29.08.23/Turan: Pashinyan's removal will no longer save the subjectivity of Karabakh, but at least it will be possible to preserve Armenia, the chairman of the political council of the "Democratic Alternative" party Suren Surenyants wrote on his Facebook page.
"Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) has lost all the components of subjectivity today. In the current situation, it is pointless even to discuss any option involving political autonomy for the NK. Roughly speaking, we do not have the resources to establish "red lines". Now we can talk about the right of Armenians to live in Nagorno-Karabakh. This question should be formulated directly to the Russian side: do they guarantee this right to the Armenians or should we think about the humanitarian corridor and the evacuation of our compatriots?
* The proposals attributed to Russia are very bad, but if they are accepted by Baku, they at least guarantee the right to life of the Armenians of Artsakh – with minimal security guarantees. It is easy to criticize Russian proposals, in this case, let the opponents publish Western proposals, unless, of course, they are about the deportation of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
* Time and the international context are working against us. If political solutions are not found now, then in two or three months we will have to pay a higher price.
* The Russian peacekeeping mission carries out its mandate very unscrupulously. There is no point in arguing here. Nevertheless, the calls to invite an international peacekeeping mission to Nagorno-Karabakh are divorced from reality and are vulgar manipulations. The UN and OSCE will not make such a decision, Azerbaijan will not even discuss such a proposal, there is not a single country in the world (even France) that is ready to enter into a tough confrontation with Azerbaijan and Turkey for the sake of Armenia, especially the people of Artsakh.
* A possible change of power in Armenia will not change the context of negotiations at the global level, but will return the subjectivity of Armenia. Pashinyan's power not only ruined Artsakh, but also, due to the lack of political will and agenda, populism and adventurism, deprived Armenia of actual subjectivity, turning it into an object of negotiations.
Pashinyan's removal will no longer save the subjectivity of Artsakh, but at least we can preserve the Republic of Armenia. Of course, if we do not delay," writes Surenyants. ---02D---
