Macron distorted results of Kishinev meeting – Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku/02.06.23/Turan: Statement of the Elysee Palace on the results of the Kishinev meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia with the participation of the leaders of France, Germany and the head of the EU Council does not reflect and distorts the positions of the parties. This was stated by the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Ayhan Hajizadeh.
The statement for the press following the meeting in Kishinev was made by the head of the EU Council, Charles Michel as the organizer of the negotiations.
"The unilateral statement of the French President made after that does not reflect and distorts the position of the parties. Unfortunately, this is not the first case of such behavior by France, and it does not make a positive contribution to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, to peace and stability in the region," Hajizadeh said.
It ought to be noted that the statement of the French President's office says that "European leaders called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to comply with all their obligations, in particular, the obligation to release prisoners of war as soon as possible. They also noted the important contribution of the EU Monitoring Mission in favor of Armenia. Finally, they stressed the importance of defining the rights and guarantees for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh."
The French President "emphasized the importance of rejecting any hostile rhetoric and continuing efforts to restore peace for the benefit of the entire population of the region."—06B-
