Mazahir Panahov�s meeting with the OSCE / ODIHR mission
Baku/21.02.18/Turan: Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov today met with members of the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission, who arrived in connection with familiarizing with the pre-election situation in the country. According to the press service of the CEC, the guests were interested in the electoral system of Azerbaijan, the principles of the activity of election commissions, the work on clarifying the lists of voters, as well as preparing for the extraordinary presidential elections on April 11.
Panahov said that the CEC "is always open to cooperation with international organizations" and has informed the guests in detail about the country's electoral system. He also talked about the measures taken in accordance with the calendar plan of the main actions for organizing the early presidential elections. During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
The OSCE/ODIHR mission arrived to prepare a report on the pre-election situation in Azerbaijan. Based on its findings, it will be decided to send observers to the organization to monitor the election campaign, the elections themselves and the vote counting process. -06D--
