Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Sweden
Baku / 07.11.17 / Turan: Azerbaijan's relations with Sweden and the EU were discussed the day before in Stockholm at a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Elmar Mammadyarov and Margot Wallström.
The Ministers discussed issues of economic cooperation, expressing satisfaction with the activities of Swedish companies in Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov also noted the possibility of Sweden"s using the transport corridor North-South, which will connect South Asia and Northern Europe.
An exchange of views was also held in connection with the forthcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels on November 24 and the course of negotiations on the signing of a new partnership agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU.
Touching upon the Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov drew attention to the fact that the EU Global Security Strategy reaffirmed the commitment to resolving conflicts on the basis of sovereignty and territorial integrity and this must be respected for all conflicts. -06D-

The losses in Azerbaijan’s defense and security sector for the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to at least 50 people. Of these, 48 were non-combat losses. A travel ban has been imposed on Samira Gassimly, the wife of political scientist Azer Gassimly. She herself informed Turan about this. On November 30, she was not allowed to depart from Baku airport for an overseas business trip.
