Minister of Emergency Situations and the Minister of Interior will not arrest the editor of "Azadlig"
Ministers of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Emergency Situations, Ramil Usubov and Kamaleddin Heydarov abandoned the idea to arrest Ganimat Zakhidov, the editor of "Azadlig". According to Rashid Hajili, the Director of the Media Rights Institute, on Monday in the Yasamal court, the representative of plaintiffs said that the two ministers withdrew their lawsuits. The reason for this is the publication of refutation and an appeal of the Press Council to the ministers.
"We expect that the court will dismiss the case," said Hajili.
On March 1, two ministers have filed a lawsuit, demanding to bring to justice the editor "Azadlig" newspaper under Article 147 of the Criminal Code (defamation).
The article read that Usubov and Heydarov are involved in opposing factions in the government and destabilize the situation. On March 12 the newspaper refuted the publication. -16B-
