"Musavat" demanded to release Afgan Mukhtarly
Baku / 13.01.18 / Turan: The leading opposition party of Azerbaijan - "Musavat" demanded immediate release of the journalist Afgan Mukhtarly, who was sentenced to six years imprisonment on January 12.
A widespread statement in this regard says that the official version of the charge against Mukhtarly is illegal border crossing and non-declaration on the border of 10 thousand euros, has no grounds and is not accepted by either international or Azerbaijani public.
The statement notes that Mukhtarli was abducted in Tbilisi on May 29 and illegally transferred to Azerbaijan; this was an operation to suppress his journalistic activities, which was aimed at exposing the facts of corruption in the highest echelons of power in Azerbaijan. -0-
