NATO Chief: Pardon for Safarov Not to Bring Peace
There are no alternatives to the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, no military way exists to solve the problem and the only way to resolve the conflict is dialogue, compromise and cooperation. This was stated by the Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, speaking in Baku in the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA).
Noting that NATO is not directly involved in the peace process, Rasmussen, at the same time expressed his full support of the Alliance for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.
However, Rasmussen expressed concern about the pardon of Ramil Safarov. This step does not contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, he said.
Rasmussen called for measures aimed at reducing tension in the region and seeking opportunities for regional cooperation.
Rassmussen that arrived in Baku today will be received by the Foreign Minister, the Defense Minister and the President of Azerbaijan. -06D-
