Baku/21.06.23/Turan: Members of the new Judicial-Legal Council (JLC) of Azerbaijan from the judiciary and the legal community were elected at a forum with participation of 130 judges on June 21. 

This is reported by the JLC staff.

The report says that the structure includes the Supreme Court - its chairman Inam Kerimov and members Chingiz Askerov and Senan Hajiyev.

Saadat Bektashi, Mubariz Akperov and Tofig Pashayev were nominated to the JLC from the courts of appeals.

Also, the first instance courts selected Ismail Khalilov, Kyamran Suleymanov and Togrul Aliyev as JLC members.

At the conference, Safa Mirzoyev, former chief of staff of the Milli Majlis and former member of the USSR Committee for Constitutional Oversight, was elected to the JLC as a representative of the legal community.

According to the new principle of JLC formation, the structure should also include one representative each from the Constitutional Court, Milli Majlis, executive branch, Bar Association and National Academy of Sciences. -03B-
