Norwegian Foreign Minister discussed human rights with civil society
In the evening of January 14, before departing from Baku, the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, met with representatives of civil society in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, they discussed ways to improve the situation of human rights in the light of the upcoming presidential elections.
The meeting was attended by the head of Human Rights Club Rasul Jafarov, the coordinator of the Human Rights House Shahla Ismayilova, the director of Turan IA, Mehman Aliyev, the head of the Center for Democracy, Anar Mammadov and the head of the National and International Studies Center, Leila Aliyeva.
During the one-day visit to Azerbaijan Espen Barth Eide met with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. He also gave a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy and met with Norwegian companies currently operating in Azerbaijan. -0 -

From 19 to 26 July, 24 automatic rifles, 1 machine gun, 9 rifles, 28 grenades, 441 shells, 3118 cartridges of different calibre and other ammunition were found in Khankendi, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported. President Ilham Aliyev has approved by decree the Azerbaijan-Kazakh intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in military intelligence defense sector. The document was signed in Baku on 7 June 2024.
