Norwegian Foreign Minister discussed human rights with civil society
In the evening of January 14, before departing from Baku, the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, met with representatives of civil society in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, they discussed ways to improve the situation of human rights in the light of the upcoming presidential elections.
The meeting was attended by the head of Human Rights Club Rasul Jafarov, the coordinator of the Human Rights House Shahla Ismayilova, the director of Turan IA, Mehman Aliyev, the head of the Center for Democracy, Anar Mammadov and the head of the National and International Studies Center, Leila Aliyeva.
During the one-day visit to Azerbaijan Espen Barth Eide met with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. He also gave a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy and met with Norwegian companies currently operating in Azerbaijan. -0 -
