Not everyone got on the Baku-Moscow-Baku special flight
Baku/05.08.20/Turan: On August 5, the state company AZAL performed a special flight on the Baku-Moscow-Baku route.
The press service told Turan that only those who had permission from the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan could buy tickets to Moscow.
Citizens of Azerbaijan and members of their families, as well as holders of diplomatic and service passports, foreigners with a work permit in Azerbaijan were allowed on the Moscow-Baku flight.
Passengers in both directions were tested for coronavirus before the flight.
The list of agencies entitled to sell tickets for AZAL flights is published on the company's website. A representative of one of these agencies told Turan about the difficulties of selling tickets for special flights.
“We can issue a ticket, but there are many nuances that the passenger must decide for himself. To fly to Moscow, you must obtain a permit and a code from the Russian Embassy in Baku and on the website of the Russian State Migration Service. We sell the ticket to the passenger only upon presentation of the code.
On the other hand, the ticket must be redeemed on the AZAL website - payment is made using the link sent from there. Many of our clients could not buy tickets because they could not register and receive a code. Even some of those who had the code were refused,” the source said. –06D-

When peace is an established fact, the existence of such a format may raise questions," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference today. "The whole question is about the timing, we need to understand how effectively and correctly to turn such topics into a subject of discussion right now," the Armenian Prime Minister added.

On August 31, Azerbaijan observes a "day of silence" before the Sunday’s early parliamentary elections for the unicameral Milli Majlis. All electoral campaigning is prohibited 24 hours before the voting. The early elections were initiated by the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party. This decision was motivated by the overlap of the scheduled elections in November with the global UN forum - the COP20 climate conference taking place in Baku.

On August 30, at approximately 22:55, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant in Metsamor was disconnected from the country's power grid, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The shutdown was caused by a lightning strike, which triggered the plant's safety systems to switch the station to a safe shutdown mode. Currently, the plant's staff is working on restarting the facility.
