OSCE Monitoring in Northeastern Karabakh
The next ceasefire monitoring exercise will be conducted on the Line of Confrontation (LOC) of the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In accordance with its mandate, the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office plans to conduct the next ceasefire monitoring exercise on the LOC, north of the village Bash Garvend, in the Aghdam region of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 19, 2016.
The Personal Representative`s field assistants, Hristo Hristov and head of the High-Level Planning Group (HLPG), Colonel Hans Lampalzer will carry out the monitoring exercise from the territory of Azerbaijan controlled by its Armed Forces.
The Personal Representative`s field assistants, Peter Svedverg, Simon Tiller and representative of the HLPG, Colonel Andrey Barashkin will participate on the other side of the LOC, in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan occupied and controlled by the armed forces of Armenia. -02D-

On December 11, a telephone conversation took place between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Jeyhun Bayramov and Hakan Fidan discussed the "post-conflict situation in the region, the situation in Syria, and other regional issues," according to a statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan expressed hope for Syria's swift exit from its current crisis while preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two sides also discussed issues related to bilateral relations, the statement said.

Azerbaijan's state budget revenues reached approximately AZN 14.993 billion in tax collections in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year, driven primarily by a surge in the non-oil sector, which accounted for an impressive 68.6% of the total, or over AZN 10 billion.

On December 11, the Baku Court of Appeal considered an appeal regarding the detention of human rights defender Rufat Safarov. Safarov’s lawyer, Bahruz Bayramov, stated that the defense requested the annulment of his arrest due to the lack of grounds for criminal prosecution. If this was not possible, the lawyers asked for the measure of restraint to be changed to house arrest.

Azerbaijan has significantly expanded its broadcasting infrastructure in 2024, commissioning 124 new radio transmitters and upgrading 52 others, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov announced at an event on the evolution of radio broadcasting in the country.
