OSCE PA head to promote peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pia Kauma will tour Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia from 12 to 20 November. According to a statement on the OSCE PA website, the purpose of the trip is to promote the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan through the means of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
"As an organization, the OSCE can act as a natural platform for dialogue on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Kauma said.
Note that Kauma was received by President Ilham Aliyev in Baku today. She will also hold meetings with the Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
From Azerbaijan, Kauma will travel to Georgia, where she will meet with the country's President Salome Zurabishvili, the Speaker of Parliament, several Ministers, the country's delegation to the OSCE, and representatives of the government and opposition parties.
In Armenia, she will be received by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Foreign Minister.
Kauma will also meet with refugees from Karabakh.
Next, she will chair the OSCE PA General Assembly in Yerevan on 18-20 November.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
