Paris supports Armenians, and "Total" asks Azerbaijan for new projects
Baku/31.08.23/Turan: On August 31, President Ilham Aliyev received the General Director of "Total Energies" Patrick Pouyanne.
The Head of State was provided with information about the start of gas production at the "Absheron" field in a project operated by "Total Energies." Pouyanne noted that the producing well is the most productive with the lowest carbon emissions. This is a clear indicator of the rich potential of the deposit.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the expansion of "Total Energies'" activities in Azerbaijan, including the transition to the stage of full-scale development of the Absheron field. Prospects for the implementation of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan were also discussed.
* "Absheron" is a gas condensate field in the Caspian Sea 100 km southeast of Baku. Initial gas reserves are estimated at 350-360 billion cuy, condensate — 45 million tons.
Initially, equity participation in the "Absheron" project was distributed as follows: "Total" (operator, 50%) and SOCAR (50%). On August 4, 2023, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company acquired a 30% stake in the field, "Total" and SOCAR each acquired 35%. ---0---
