Pashinyan Comments on Possibility of Meeting with Aliyev
Baku / 25.01.20 / Turan: There is no agreement yet on a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Munich Security Conference, which will be held in February 2020. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a press conference on Saturday.
“The meeting cannot be ruled out, as it is in the process of discussion,” Pashinyan added.
According to him, the last meeting with the President of Azerbaijan took place in December 2019 at the CIS leaders' summit in St. Petersburg.
“I find such communication useful. I think there is no harm in discussing something,” he added.
At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized that the Armenian government has already outlined the framework for the negotiation process at the joint meeting of the Security Councils of Armenia and Karabakh in Yerevan on December 23, 2019.
“At the moment, there is no discussion document on the conference table. We must work together to bring the negotiation process closer to the stage of more substantive discussions. ”
“The main problem is that the Azerbaijani side has not yet responded to my statement that the option of resolving the Karabakh conflict should be acceptable to the peoples of Artsakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan. If you look conceptually, this is a key problem in the negotiation process, but the Armenian side is ready for a constructive solution,” he said. -0-
