Pashinyan discusses in Teheran the possibility of Iranian gas supply
Baku / 27.02.19 / Turan: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discussed a number of bilateral and regional issues in Tehran on Wednesday.
At the final press conference, Rouhani said that Iran is satisfied with Armenia"s position on the "unfair sanctions against Iran".
Our countries set a goal not to allow a third country to interfere in our cooperation.
From the point of view of economic cooperation there is a great potential that should be used better. A large-scale project "gas in exchange for electricity" is being implemented in the energy sphere between Iran and Armenia.
Another topic concerns the North-South highway. The Iranian side expressed its readiness to participate in this program, Ruhani said.
"We are ready to increase gas supplies to Armenia and start trilateral cooperation in the export of gas to Georgia," said Rouhani.
Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, noted that in the matter of increasing the supply of Iranian gas to Armenia, it is necessary to agree on a price. "This is a fundamentally important issue in the context of the attractiveness of the transaction," he noted.
Pashinyan confirmed that Armenia is ready to become a transit country for Iranian gas to Georgia.
"There is political will to resolve these issues," he said. -02D-

We deeply regret that President of the country which is officially a “strategic partner” of Azerbaijan has participated in the unacceptable diplomatic “binocular show” leading to the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland,”" reads the statement on the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X (formerly Twitter).
