Political analysts: Events in Ismayilli were predictable
Disorder in Ismayilli or another region of the country was predictable, and the Forum of Intellectuals has repeatedly warned about it, the co-founder of the Public Forum of Intellectuals, political scientist Eldar Namazov told Turan, commenting on popular protests in the city.
"Despite our warnings, the authorities ignored them and began a campaign of blackening of the Forum," he said.
Namazov did not rule out that such processes will be repeated in the near future, and the protest zone will expand.
"This is an indication that the Azerbaijani public is tired of this government and is calling for change. The only way out of the situation is immediate start of real reforms and fair elections," he said.
The head of the center East-West Arastun Orujlu considers that the events in Guba last year and the recent protests in Baku, around the Bina shopping center and now in Ismayilli are the links of one chain.
"These protests are the result of ignoring the interests of the people, mass and shameless violation of their basic rights, honor and dignity.
The events in Ismayilli are a reaction of ordinary people to all this injustice. Rather than address these issues, the authorities can not find anything better than to use force. In the coming months, the protests will grow stronger," he said. -05B-
