Pompeo urged Yerevan and Baku not to go beyond the Minsk Group
Baku / 18.11.20 / Turan: On Tuesday evening, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on Baku and Yerevan to resume negotiations on the Karabakh settlement, Radio Liberty reported.
“We urge the parties to resume negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group as soon as possible in order to find a lasting and sustainable solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. This decision should be based on the provisions of the Helsinki Final Act - the principles of non-use of force and exclusion of its threat, territorial integrity, self-determination and equality of peoples,” said Pompeo.
The head of the American diplomacy also noted that Washington intends to provide financial assistance for the implementation of humanitarian programs in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“The United States will provide $ 5 million in humanitarian aid to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other partner NGOs,” the statement said.
Prior to that, Pompeo had a meeting with President Macron in Paris, during which the Karabakh conflict was also discussed. Both sides expressed dissatisfaction with Turkey's participation in this conflict, urging to solve the problem within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. -02D-
