President of Turkmenistan Proposes to Create Logistics Center in Caspian
Baku / 11.03.20 / Turan: President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov arrived on March 11 on an official visit to Azerbaijan. Upon arrival, he met with President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the press service of the President of Turkmenistan, the Presidents of the two countries considered issues of transport cooperation.
In particular, they discussed the construction of new highways with the participation of not only Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, but also third countries. Berdymukhamedov urged to unite efforts in the field of transport, to develop common approaches and to begin to conduct coordinated transport diplomacy in the international arena, providing for active cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the International Union road transport and others.
The Turkmen leader also spoke out in favor of intensifying bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere.
In the field of international energy cooperation, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan advocate the creation of a balanced, multi-variant system of energy supplies to European markets, based on the diversification of routes.
Separately, the topic of cooperation in the Caspian was raised.
The signing on August 12, 2018 in Aktau of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation
Turkmen leader focuses on turning Caspian to a large transport and logistics hub. “This is a strategic direction,” he said.
The most important vector in this segment is the joint work on launching the project of the Caspian Sea - Black Sea transport route and attracting partners from Romania and Georgia to the project. -02D-
