Prosecutor General's Office Reports on Fight against Corruption
Baku / 01/15/19/ Turan: The head of the anti-corruption department of the country's Prosecutor General"s Office, Kamran Aliyev, held a traditional briefing on Tuesday, where he read his work report for the year to the pro-government media.
Without naming names, positions or organizations, he said that last year 25 officials received warnings, 16 - reprimands, three - severe reprimands, and 17 people were dismissed.
He further reported that in 2018, the Prosecutor's Office investigated 17 materials from the State Customs Committee, seven from the Ministry of Taxes, 21 from the Ministry of Environment, eight from the Food Safety Agency, and six from the State Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning. On 43 materials criminal cases were initiated.
Further, the prosecutor announced a tightening over the activities of stone quarries, which for a long time were out of control. Based on materials from the Ministry of Environment, the prosecutor's office sent 21 criminal cases to the court in respect of 26 individuals.
Damage of 21 million manat was established, 10.5 million of which was reimbursed. Also confiscated was property in the amount of more than 1.2 million manat.
The prosecutor's office has strengthened control over the construction sector, where companies violate the labor rights of workers. A number of companies have received warnings and concluded employment contracts with more than 400 employees.
Aliyev also spoke about the progress of investigating the facts of corruption in the Liftremont (lift repair) production association, where the head was fired.
At the same time, the prosecutor did not comment on the numerous recent scandals with the publication of multi-million overseas property by a number of ministers, government officials and bankers. -02D-
