Putin Notes "Special Nature" of Russian-Azerbaijani Relations
Baku / 01.11.17 / Turan: Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are "of a special nature," Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Tehran on November 1. Both leaders agreed the relationship between the two countries is a "strategic partnership".
"We meet regularly and talk on the phone and are in constant contact. This is natural, because the relations between our countries are of a special nature. Undoubtedly, this is the nature of strategic partnership," AzerTaj quoted Putin as saying.
He noted with satisfaction that the growth of trade turnover for the first 9 months of this year amounted to almost 62 percent. "We work in other areas and we constantly consult on regional issues," Putin added.
Aliyev for his part noted that personal meetings of the heads of the two states give a new impetus to the development of relations. He noted the growth in turnover "after certain complex processes." "This suggests that there is a great mutual interest between business institutions, and the growth in trade turnover is also an indicator of the restoration of our economies and of mutual interest.
Our relations with Russia are of a strategic nature, and we characterize them. We cooperate in all areas - in the humanitarian sphere as well as in the economic, energy, transport and military-technical areas. Therefore, this is a full-fledged relationship of friends, neighbors and close partners," Aliyev continued.
The meeting between Aliyev and Putin took place on the margins of the summit of the heads of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran in Tehran. -06D-
