Putin's Position Helped to Reduce Tensions in Karabakh - Erdogan
Baku/10.12.20/Turan: The positive position of Russian President Vladimir Putin made it possible to reduce the escalation of tension in Nagorno-Karabakh and direct the processes in a positive direction. This was stated on December 10 at a briefing in Baku by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following talks with Ilham Aliyev.
Turkey and its inhabitants have no hatred for the Armenian people. “All the problems are with the leadership of Armenia,” Erdogan noted, adding that today more than 100 thousand Armenian citizens live and work in Turkey.
The Turkish leader commented on the likelihood of opening the border with Armenia. “If Yerevan takes positive steps towards Ankara, we will open the borders. We have no desire to keep the border closed forever," Erdogan stressed.
He also condemned the decision of the French parliamentarians to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. “Even Armenia does not recognize this entity, and French President Emmanuel Macron is trying to push such an initiative through parliament. This suggests that Macron has not even become a politician,” Erdogan said. -0-
