Religious Extremist Liquidated in Khachmaz
Baku / 29.08.18 / Turan: A member of a religious extremist group Nizami Najafov was liquidated in the Khachmaz district on August 28, the joint statement of the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan says.
According to the same source, it was established that Nizami Najafov acquired weapons, ammunition and explosives and planned to commit a terrorist act in the northern regions of Azerbaijan.
In this connection, the employees of the State Security Service and the Prosecutor's Office held joint actions. During the operation to detain Najafov he refused to surrender and committed armed resistance by opening fire from a submachine gun.
