Representatives of Working Group Call on Attorney General to Release Intigam Aliyev
NGO representatives in the joint working group (JWG) on Human Rights appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office to release the human rights defender Intigam Aliyev and create the conditions for his treatment.
Turan was reported by a member of the JWG, head of the Society for Women's Rights Novella Jafaroglu.
According to her, Aliyev is facing serious health problems and an urgent action is needed.
Human rights activists intend to appeal also due to the hard state of Leyla Yunus.
"The state of Yunus is hard and an urgent action is needed to take her abroad for treatment," said Jafaroglu.
Along with this, the JWG collects materials and prepares certificates of other sick prisoners. She expressed the hope that by the end of the year there will be real results.
* The JWG on Human Rights, which brings together representatives of government and NGOs, was recreated a month ago on the recommendation of the Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland. -06B--
