Russian Foreign Ministry responds to Pashinyan
Baku/29.12.22/Turan: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's accusations today about inactivity of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.
Speaking at a Foreign Ministry briefing, Zakharova called the criticism unacceptable. "Russian peacekeepers are doing their best to resolve the situation on the ground. No public attacks help the cause. There have been worse situations. We are working so that this situation can be improved. You can talk as much as you like about raising efficiency and so on. Everyone is working to resolve this situation now. But to say and state such things is simply not to understand the current realities," she said. -02D-

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
