Russias Foreign Ministry rejects claims of Baku regarding Saakyans visit to Moscow
Baku/30.11.18/Turan: The visit of Bako Saakayan to Russia was of a private nature, and does not contradict Russian legislation and any international agreements, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.
"You know, this trip can be regarded only as private, its status is obvious; and it is not counter to the Russian legislation in this capacity, as a private trip. Neither international agreements, nor Russia's mediation mission in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement," Interfax quotes Zakharov.
"Therefore, claims to the Russian side, which were expressed in a recent statement by the Azerbaijani side, are groundless from our point of view," Zakharova said.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned the Russian authorities for the visit of the leader of the Karabakh separatists to Moscow, saying that this contradicts Russia's obligations as a mediator in resolving the Karabakh conflict and also harms bilateral relations.
Baku made similar claims to Paris and Washington, where Bako Sahakyan also traveled. -02D-
