Schengen visas are recognized by Germany, despite the suspension of the agreement
Temporary suspension of Schengen by Germany are not applied to persons who have received Schengen visas in any of the countries of the agreement, said Elvin Akhundov, the press officer of the German Embassy in Azerbaijan. "The action of the Schengen visa is still valid, and any citizen who has it, will be able to cross the border in Germany as usual," he said.
Major efforts to control entering the country will be concentrated on the border with Austria, where the main flow of illegal migrants is sent to the Federal Republic of Germany. In other parts of the German border, in particular, with Belgium and Luxembourg, will be introduced random inspection of documents, reports Euronews.
The German government was forced to take emergency measures in relation with redirecting to other countries the flow of refugees from the Middle East to Germany. Over the past 2.5 months about 300,000 refugees, mostly from Syria arrived in the country. Over the past year 200,000 refugees arrived in Germany. This year it is expected that 800,000 refugees will be received, said the Vice Chancellor of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel.
